Laser removal is a non-invasive method of removing tattoo / PMU pigment without causing injury to the surface skin. The laser works by sending a beam of light into the skin, targeting the ink/pigment and breaking it down into tiny particles. These particles are then passed out of the body through its own lymphatic system.
Treatments are spaced at a minimum of 6 weeks intervals to allow the time for the body to do this. Usually several sessions are required, especially for body tattoos, but the number cannot be predicted as it is all dependent on a number of issues — age, depth, type of ink etc.
Brow pigment is usually a mix of colours therefore not as straightforward as a black tattoo to remove, but can be done fairly well in not many sessions, but the colours are removed in layers.
The sensation feels like an elastic band flicking the skin and also feels hot and body tattoos usually would feel more painful due to the size, depth and colour.

Important information
Common things to see following a treatment:
- Skin frosting (raised white vapour bubbles, which go down quickly)
- Pin prick bleeding
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Itching
- Blisters — must never be popped! These will heal naturally
This process cannot be rushed and so patience is required once you start on this journey.
NB: Tattoos further away from the heart (e.g. hands and feet) take longer for the body to remove the inks even if they are very small.
Important
Certain clients are unsuitable for this treatment due to medical conditions or medications, so all of this information needs to be told to the technician at the consultation to avoid any complications.
- Clients must be over the age of 18
- Tanned skin is not suitable for treatment as it can burn — 4 weeks should be left before treatment
- Avoid actively tanning for 6 weeks after treatment and protect the area with factor 50 sunscreen
- A patch test and full consultation will be carried out prior to treatment to assess suitability
Aftercare
Proper aftercare is key to good results.
Some of these apply to body more so than brows but the principles are the same. Keep the area clean and dry to help healing.
Both body tattoos and brows are going to feel hot and swollen and, providing the skin is not broken, aloe vera gel can be applied to soothe the area. Cooling packs wrapped in cotton can also be applied.
Dry healing is often the best method after treatment.
Aftercare instructions:
- Avoid hot shower / bath for 24 hours (cool shower after 3 hours)
- Let the area dry before applying any creams
- Avoid perfumed products
- Avoid swimming until the area has healed and dry skin has come off
- Avoid direct sun for 6 weeks and use high factor sunscreen once healed
- Avoid picking dry skin or popping blisters (can cause scarring)
- Any skin colour changes (lighter or darker) are usually temporary
- Any scarring is likely from the tattoo itself, not the removal
- Avoid tight or irritating clothing on treated areas
- Avoid sun beds, saunas, steam rooms for 6 weeks
- Skin must be fully healed (at least 8 weeks) before re-tattooing
Brows note:
Due to mixed pigments, brows may appear pink once dark pigment is removed and can sometimes darken again — this is called paradoxical darkening and is treated in future sessions.
NB: Yellow pigment cannot be removed with this laser but will fade naturally over time.
This is not a quick journey — patience is key.
